Job Duties:
Harvest of vegetable crops; crop/field maintenance; planting; weeding with a long stick hoe. Placement and removal of wood stakes, string and plastic required for growing crops. Weeding (with a long stick hoe) and harvest of peppers (various varieties), tomatoes, eggplant and assorted greens. Harvest vegetable crops: Jalapeño Peppers, Bell Peppers, eggplant and tomatoes. By hour and piece work. Packing vegetable crops: Jalapeño Peppers, Bell Peppers, eggplant and tomatoes May be offered to drive harvesting belt, tractor. Daily schedule may vary. Employer may request but not require that workers work more than the stated daily hours, on the worker’s Sabbath, or on Federal holidays. Employer will pay overtime to the workers who work more than 8 hours per day and/or over 40 hours per week. Double the regular rate of pay required after 12 hours in a workday and time and one-half pay for the first eight hours worked on the seventh consecutive day of work, and double-time pay for all work performed in excess of eight hours on the seventh consecutive day of work.
Special Requirements:
We require three months of recent and verifiable experience within the past two years for the job duties listed. This position requires a minimum of three months for the employee to get a full understanding of the job and responsibilities. Must be able to understand work & safety instructions in English or Spanish, the languages spoken and written in the workplace. All work must be performed in a manner that exhibits Good Agricultural Practices (GAP) and the utmost food safety at all times. Variable weather conditions. See Addendum C.
