Job Duties:
Workers will assist with daily operations on a cow/calf beef ranch in central South Dakota. Primary responsibilities include feeding approximately 1,000 head of cow/calf pairs, moving cattle between paddocks for rotational grazing, and assisting with calving and animal health treatment. Workers will help maintain and build fences, move hay stacks as needed, and ensure clean, safe working environments for both livestock and staff. Duties require use of tractors, telehandlers, and other ranch equipment, with basic servicing and repair expected where qualified. Work is physically demanding and includes exposure to varying weather conditions. Applicants must be able to follow safety protocols and animal care standards, work independently and as part of a team, and perform repetitive tasks as needed throughout the season. Experience with livestock and large equipment is preferred. Termination Clause: Employment is at-will and may be ended at any time by the employer. However, in most cases, an escalatory disciplinary process will be used before termination. This includes: Verbal or written warning, Final written warning, and Termination. This approach ensures workers are given the opportunity to improve performance or correct behavior, in accordance with H-2A regulations.
Special Requirements:
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain.
