Our daily routine consist of: Maintain watering systems, including freezing prevention and or repair as a result thereof. Proper handling of calves and cows in various pregnancy and birthing stages with additional care to accommodate cold and or freezing temperatures at the time. Processing (sorting) of calves to include sorting and taking care of sick animals in need of application of pharmaceuticals with ongoing treatment per protocol. Ongoing repair of feedlot equipment and facilities, including welding fences and structures. Operating equipment to haul hay using tractors and wagons. Remove manure from cattle pens. Required documentation of all activities in the feedlot tracking programs. Job duties include the following, but are not limited to: Feeding, watering, herding, castrating, branding, weighing, catching, and loading animals. Examining animals to detect diseases and injuries. Assisting in birthing, administering medications, vaccinations, or insecticides. Maintaining winter animal housing areas; using diggers, shovels and other equipment needed. Ongoing maintenance includes cleaning, maintaining and repair of equipment, various workshop tasks as well as maintenance of grain bins and general buildings. Use of various farm and cattle specific equipment. Maintaining records, as required by relevant various entities, clients and inhouse management.
Special Requirements:
Minimum of three months verifiable experience. Workers must be able to obtain their drivers license within 30-90 days of hire. Workers will perform manual and physical work requiring extensive pushing, pulling, sitting or walking, frequent stooping, bending over and movements might be repetitive. Job duties include lifting of agricultural tools and equipment that weigh up to 60lbs. Most work is performed outdoors and workers will be exposed to the severe Nebraska winter conditions like freezing temperatures, snow and in some instances blizzards. No texting and use of cellphone during working hours, while operating machinery, equipment and driving vehicles. All tools are provided by the employer.
