Job Duties:
***RFI Response*** The Company maintains a fleet of commercial trucks (typically Isuzu flatbeds and Ford F-250 and F-350 trucks) with GVWR’s ranging from 12,000 to about 16,000 pounds. None of the trucks in the fleet have a GVWR in excess of 26,001 pounds. No CDL is required. Qualified drivers are responsible for driving the vehicles and must pass a DOT physical. Employees not qualified to drive must be prepared to assist the driver in case of emergencies, and participate in practices aimed at helping the driver and the Company with its overall commitment to safety. The driver and the helper are responsible for ensuring any loads are safe, secured and balanced; traffic laws are obeyed; company policies regarding safe operation are followed; appropriate inspections and checklists are completed; any backing of the trucks is done in a safe manner with a spotter when appropriate; trucks are guarded in emergencies; cones are placed; and similar. ***Original F.a.2*** Provide landscape services including mowing, trimming, planting, digging, irrigating and fertilizing of growing plants and grasses. Use hand/power tools and equipment such as edgers, blowers and mowers. Responsible for the overall safe operation of Department of Transportation commercial motor vehicles, and the transportation of people and property, on interstate highways. Assist with the vehicle’s safety inspection and loading, unloading, transporting, positioning, and removing landscape materials from commercial motor vehicles to job site to assist with the installation of those materials on jobsites. May be asked to demonstrate tasks to up to four peers but position does not include supervision of other workers. Ensure tools and equipment are safely transported and accounted for between worksites.
Special Requirements:
Requires three months of previous landscape experience. Work performed under this contract is exempt from state and federal overtime pay under Section 13(b)(1) of the Fair Labor Standards Act. Must work in inclement weather and extreme temperatures. Must lift/carry 50 lbs., when necessary. Saturday and Sunday work required, when necessary. Employer-paid drug testing required of foreign and domestic workers prior to commencing work and post-hire upon suspicion of use and post-accident. Post-hire background checks may be required of foreign and domestic workers based on contract requirements. Crew Leads who also drive company vehicles between worksites will be paid an extra $0.50 per hour (driving is not a requirement of all workers in the position). Employees engaged in the loading of motor vehicles as defined in 29 CFR 782.5 are ineligible for overtime pursuant to the Motor Carrier Act. Employer may offer more than the stated work hours depending on weather, business needs, and other conditions. Extreme heat, cold, rain, or drought may affect exact working hours.
