Job Duties:
Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops; Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, load crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Haul and spread fertilizer and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools. Assist with vaccinating, supplementing and feeding of cows, calves; Assist with birthing of baby calves from cows and heifers; Wean, process calves; Artificially inseminate cows and heifers; Haul feed cubes and hay bales to cattle in winter months; Sort cattle to be taken to market and sold; Operate skid steer to move manure and feed; Remove old fence posts and wire, set anchors, dig holes, string barb wire; Clear brush using hand tools; Pick up wood chunks on uncleared ground; Drive farm vehicle; Minor daily and incidental upkeep to equipment and worksite.
Special Requirements:
Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
