Job Duties:
Workers will perform seasonal agricultural duties associated with the employer's post harvest potato storage and shipping operations. Primary duties include grading, sorting, cleaning, packing, handling, and preparing the employer's stored potatoes for shipment to first buyers while maintaining product quality standards. Workers will inspect potatoes for quality and condition, remove defective product, sort and grade potatoes, place acceptable potatoes into appropriate containers or packaging, and assist with moving potatoes through storage, grading, packing, and shipping operations. Workers will operate agricultural handling equipment used to move, grade, sort, clean, pack, and prepare potatoes for shipment. Workers will perform routine cleaning, adjustments, servicing, and minor maintenance of agricultural handling equipment to maintain safe and proper operation. When post harvest activities permit, workers may perform routine servicing and maintenance of the employer's agricultural equipment used in potato production and harvest. Workers may perform general farm labor and winter farm chores supporting agricultural operations, including snow removal around farm buildings, potato storage facilities, equipment areas, and operational access areas. Three months of experience operating and maintaining agricultural handling equipment is required. Employer specific procedures, safety requirements, and equipment orientation will be provided after hire. All duties directly support the employer's seasonal potato farming operation. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements:
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced LevelPursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
