Job Duties:
Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade, using brands, tags, paint, or tattoos. Maintain heated watering system. Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition. Maintain equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment or livestock from one location to another on the farm. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Maintain growth, feeding, production, and cost records. Operate snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons. Remove ice formed in water. No CDL Required and no commercial truck driving required.
Special Requirements:
Minimum of 2 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires drug screen & criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense. Failure to pass drug screen and/or criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. Workers will be exposed to extreme temperatures. English speaking requirement is needed since the workers will be working with cattle. It is very important that they can communicate efficiently with the employer. They must be able to understand and follow safety instructions as well as instructions when administering medications to the cattle. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record.
