Job Duties:
Maintaining Hives: assembling, repairing and inspecting; Collecting Honey: extracting honey from combs and packaging it for sale; Ensuring food supply: making sure bees have enough food to survive and produce honey; Treating for disease and pests: identify and treat parasites and viruses that affect bees; Pollination preparation: Get colonies ready to pollinate crops; Breed Queen bees: raising and breeding queen bees to maintain genetic diversity; Prepare for winter: ensure colonies of bees have enough food to survive the winter; Providing pollination services: rent hives out to farms and orchards, includes moving bee hives, maintaining them and removing when pollination process is completed. Beekeeper suits and other equipment is provided and training on proper use is part of on the job training. Safety training is also provided.
Special Requirements:
Three (3) months recent and verifiable experience required for the job duties listed. Must be able to obtain appropriate drivers license (Class C) following hire and obtain clean driving record. Be able to lift up to 50 lbs. Once hired, worker may be required to take a drug test at no cost to the worker and be subject to the employers drug free and alcohol free workplace policy including testing protocols. Testing positive for an illegal/controlled substance or failure to comply may result in immediate termination from employment.
