Job Duties:
Duties may include: Drive heavy trucks (truck is greater than 26,001 lbs.) such as Sterling, Volvo, and International trucks to transport grain or sugar beets. Inspect cargo to ensure it is properly loaded or secured. Assist in loading trucks by positioning trailer under discharge chute and/or tightening down winch/ratchet straps, chains, and roll tarps. Perform daily maintenance as necessary such as check or change engine oil, grease trail hitches, check air pressure in tires/air brakes and replace headlights or running lights. Notify supervisors of emergencies, problems, or hazards. Read maps to determine routes. Remove debris or damaged materials. Report vehicle or equipment malfunctions. Review documents or materials for compliance with policies or regulations. Review work orders or schedules to determine operations or procedures. Verify information or specifications & other related Heavy Truck Driver activities as per SOC/OES 53-3032 (onetonline.org).
Special Requirements:
Must show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Perform physical activities: such as lift, balance, walk, stoop, handle, position, move, manipulate materials use static strength to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, carry objects up to 50lbs. All applicants must be able, willing and qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified and work throughout all areas of intended employment. Work is performed outdoors, exposed to weather; must be capable of doing physically strenuous labor for long hours, occasionally in extreme heat or cold. Variable weather conditions apply; hours may fluctuate (+/-), possible downtime and/or overtime. Valid driver's license, must be able to obtain a CDL within 30 days. Any worker found to have a criminal conviction, DWI, commits serious acts of misconduct, refuses to follow instructions, violates work rules, fails to perform job duties in a competent manner, or other lawful job-related reasons will be subject to termination. Workers who have a clean driving record and insurable driver's license may be required to drive company vehicles. Possible Weekend/Holiday work. Start/End Times, offered hours and/or overtime could vary as they may be dependent on other factors such as project/schedule/service needs, weather, and commute times between work sites (if applicable).
