Job Duties:
Operate modern John Deere and Case IH agricultural equipment used in grain farming operations. Perform grain handling activities, including storing, drying when required, and hauling grain from on farm storage to designated grain elevators using farm trucks and, when required, semi tractor trailers as part of normal agricultural operations. Conduct routine and preventative maintenance on agricultural equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation, including oil changes, tire repairs, machine preparation, light electrical repairs, and other general mechanical maintenance. Prepare, inspect, service, and maintain farm machinery for seasonal agricultural operations, ensuring equipment readiness before spring fieldwork. Assist with winter agricultural activities necessary to support the farm between harvest and planting seasons, including grain handling, equipment preparation, and shop work related to maintaining farm machinery. Safely operate agricultural equipment and vehicles in accordance with established farm safety practices. Perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 50 pounds, while working outdoors in varying weather conditions. Maintain agricultural equipment in good operating condition by identifying routine maintenance needs and completing repairs within the scope of normal farm operations. Duties are performed on a grain farming operation producing wheat, barley, canola, corn, soybeans, millet, and alfalfa and are essential to maintaining the operation and preparing for the upcoming planting season. Employees will be provided with adequate breaks, including meal and rest periods, consistent with applicable Federal, State, and local law, during the course of each workday.
Special Requirements:
Minimum of 3 months experience is required. Lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion. Operator License Class D Candidate will have 60 days to obtain. Skill Level II Experienced Level Pursuant to the Interim Final Rule (IFR) implementing the new four-level wage system for H-2A occupations, the employer designates this position as Skill Level II Experienced Level, indicating that the job requires prior related experience, independent judgment in performing recurring tasks, and the ability to work with limited supervision.
