The Omni Grove Park Inn, headquartered at 290 Macon Avenue, Asheville, NC 28804; is seeking to fill five (5) Barista positions from March 11, 2026, to January 10, 2027.
These positions are only available to H2B workers who are currently in the USA, working in status, available for porting to this new employment opportunity OR US Citizens OR Permanent Residents or others with valid employment authorization.
These positions are not open to foreign workers who are not currently in the USA, in legal H2B status.
This is for full time, peak-load, temporary employment. Duties include Prepare or serve specialty coffee and other beverages or food items like baked goods or sandwiches to customers. Keep the store environment clean. Help guests with merchandise transactions at the coffee shop. Special Requirements: No minimum experience or specific educational requirements are necessary. Candidates must be able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs., pass a pre-employment criminal background check (paid for by the employer and applicable to all workers, including U.S. and foreign/H-2B workers), and obtain the ServSafe Food Handlers Certification. They should also be able to work at least a five-day schedule, including weekends and holidays. Applicants are required to complete an employment application. Basic English reading and speaking skills required.
The pay is $14.25 to $15.00 per hour with overtime available at $21.38 to $22.50 per hour, based on the hourly rate. The work schedule is as follows: 35 hours per week, with varied shifts Sunday - Saturday: 6-to 8-hour shifts from 8 am-12 am (shifts: 8 am-5 pm, 10 am-7pm, and 3pm-12 am). As a Grove Park Inn employee, the workers can ride the Asheville Ride Transit City bus for free during the hours it operates. The employer will not provide transportation to and from housing outside of the city bus schedule. One of the employer's apartment complexes is within walking distance, 0.7 miles away.
Single workweek will be used in computing wages due. Pay period is bi-weekly. The employer will make all deductions required by law. Housing is available at a deduction of $260.00 biweekly, with a security deposit of $100.00. Housing is optional for workers. Transportation, including meals and, to the extent necessary, lodging, to the place of employment will be provided, or its cost to workers reimbursed by a company check, separate from the payroll check, if the worker completes half of the employment period.
If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, employer will arrange and pay directly for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker's reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back to home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economically and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.
Reimbursement in the first work week for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker (but not included passport expenses or other charges primarily for the benefit of the worker). The employer will provide worker, at no charge, all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job and on the job training in the proper use of tools and equipment. The employer guarantees to offer work for hours equal to at least three-fourths of the workdays in each 12-week period of the total employment period only to the extent that this guarantee is enforced by the Department of Labor. As of the date of this posting, the three-fourths guarantee is not enforced, but this is subject to change.
