Job Duties:
Daily feeding using payloader and feed wagon and watering of livestock. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Provide medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arrange for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment. Cleaning of bedding and maintaining optimal pen conditions. Mark livestock to identify ownership using ear tags. Maintain heated watering systems throughout winter months. Maintain machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move livestock from one location to another on the farm. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Operate snow removal equipment in order to operate feed wagons. Remove ice formed in waters. Drive to town on occasion to pick up cattle supplies. No CDL Required and no commercial truck driving required.
Special Requirements:
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children and expensive tools and equipment on the farm. Failure to pass criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 80 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Workers must have positive verifiable experience relevant to the job and be capable of performing physically demanding tasks. Workers must be able to speak English. Employees must adhere to strict biosecurity, company policies, and food safety guidelines, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations. Certain roles may require a valid drivers license within 30 days of hire and a clean driving record for operating company vehicles.
