Job Duties:
SOC 45-2093 accounts for 100% of the work performed. The operation is a chicken hatchery production facility where employees support the full flow of poultry work from receiving eggs through incubation, hatching, sexing, order preparation, and shipment to customers. Workers place eggs on trays, load trays into incubators, transfer eggs from incubators to hatchers, and handle the receiving, loading, and unloading of eggs and chicks within the hatchery, at farms, and at shipping locations. After chicks hatch, employees examine feathers and colors to segregate chicks according to sex, load chicks into the separator, and assist with toe, wing, and beak clipping and vaccinating as part of hatchery and farm operations. They also fill customer chick orders, package chicks for shipment, and load and unload chicks for transport, including driving to farms and shipping locations using vans. Throughout the hatchery, employees support maintenance duties involving machinery, fleet, and facility upkeep, clean and sanitize the facility and equipment, dump product waste, and assist in all other areas of the hatchery and farms as assigned. The employer, at its sole discretion, may grant pay increases based on factors such as performance, longevity, and/or experience. Returning workers will be paid the current H2A rate or their last year's wage rate, whichever is higher. If the current rate is lower than a returning worker's last year's rate, the worker will receive at least their last year's rate. Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination.
